How To Style: A Statement Sweater for a High-Budget
Last Monday I showed you how to style a statement sweater for a low-budget. However, today I’m going to be showing you how to style a statement sweater for a high-budget.
The statement sweater is a great transitional trend because it can take you all the way through from summer into winter – if you buy right. My advice is to buy something bright with a cool print or lots of texture – something that you can team with shorts or trousers. If your sweater has a big printed motif, I would stick to block coloured shorts/skirts/trousers. Leather trousers and leather pencil skirts both would go well and rock another trend this season. If the print on your sweater is small, or the sweater is a textural or block coloured, try printed trousers for a fabulously on-trend look. Take care though, that the trousers don’t detract from the sweater… after all; it is about the sweater making a statement!
So here’s how to style a statement sweater for a high-budget:
Sweater – Proenza Schouler – Intarsia wool and cashmere-blend sweater (£555)
Trousers – Balmain – Skinny leather pants (£2,370)
Heels – Rick Owens – Cutout leather ankle boots (£700)
Clutch – Proenza Schouler – PS11 textured-leather wristlet clutch (£880)
Sunglasses – Ray-Ban – Clubmaster half-frame acetate sunglasses (£120)
All available from Net-a-porter.com.
This fantastic sweater from Proenza Schouler is a modern, geometric twist on winter knitwear. Teamed with these skinny leather trousers, it is sure to make an impact – the trousers don’t detract but toughen up to look instead. These Rick Owens boots add more tough-girl cool to the look but add a bit of glamour with the heel. The orange clutch highlights the orange tones in the sweater and adds a much-needed pop of colour. The sunglasses are just an extra, cool feature to add to your style credentials. Keep hair natural and glossy, makeup natural too, and a pop of bright blue on your nails to finish off the look!
