How To Style: A Statement Sweater for a Low-Budget
Last Monday I showed you how to do summer evening wear for a high-budget. However, today I’m going to show you how to style a statement sweater (for a low-budget) – so you can get in early on one of summer to autumn’s transitional trends.
This trend is all about making an impact with one piece – a crazy/colourful/bit bonkers/stylish sweater. To get the desired effect, the rest of the outfit has to be right – not too much going on because it will distract from the sweater, but not nothing going on because… well that would just be boring! Getting the right balance is key to this look – being able to make it seem casual but perfectly stylish at the same time.
So, here’s how to style a statement sweater for a low-budget:
Sweater – Yumi – Red Aztec Print Jumper (£37.99). Available from Newlook.com.
Leggings – Topshop – Premium Heavy Weight PU Leggings (£38).
Sunglasses – Cheap Monday – Cryokine Sunglasses (£18). Available from ASOS.com.
Clutch – Zara – Messenger With Metallic Plaque (£39.99).
Heels – Topshop – ACROBAT Wedge Hi-Top Trainers (£80).
The Aztec print sweater is bang on trend and also is sure to make and impact. By teaming it with these leather-look leggings, the look does not get over complicated and the sweater still makes a statement. To stop the look from being too informal, I’ve included some sporty heels that add to your style credits without diverting attention away from the jumper. The clutch adds a much-needed bright pop of colour, and the sunglasses inject a bit of supermodel cool into the outfit to take you from summer into autumn! Keep hair natural and bouncy or slick it back into a pony tail. A red lipstick will look great with this ensemble, and for nails, a neon yellow nail polish would add that final touch.
