Best Swimsuits and Bikinis 2012 for a Low-Budget

Last Monday I showed you how to do Scuba Fashion for a high-budget. However, today I’m going to show you the best swimsuits and bikinis for a low-budget (for 2012).

Go Nautical

Stripes, halternecks, and red, white & blue will all give you a summery, sailing-holiday look. Don’t forget some little cotton shorts. Personally, I am in love with this Red Or Dead swimsuit – I think it is perfect with its little bottle prints and rope tie around the waist.

Swimsuit – Newlook – Pleated Cup Swimsuit (Was £22.99, Now £17.24) Newlook.com.
Swimsuit – Red Or Dead – Message Bottle Swimsuit (£64.99) Newlook.com (Bikini in same print for £59.99) Newlook.com.

Sporty and Neon

The Olympics are in London this summer, so why not try a sports inspired bikini. Alternatively go for something bright and eye-catching for a modern update on classic beach dressing.

Bikini – Bjorn Borg – Love Green Triangle Bikini Top (Was £16.99, Now £12.74), Bottoms (Was £14.99, Now £11.24) Newlook.com.
Bikini – Topshop – Black Sporty Airtex Bikini (£28) – Topshop.com.
Bikini – Topshop – Pink Fluro Bandeau Bikini (£26) – Topshop.com.

 Digital Prints

Digital prints are having a moment… and could for several more years. Mary Katrantzou, Basso & Brooke and We Are Handsome all pioneered the trend. The first ASOS swimsuit rocks the Mary Katrantzou look, and is bright and bold. For We Are Handsome style swimwear, try the next two swimsuits and bikini.

Swimsuit – Topshop – Palm Print One Piece (£35) – Topshop.com.
Swimsuit – Autograph – Tummy Control Animal Placement Print Swimsuit (£35) Marksandspencer.com.
Bikini – M&S – Flamingo & Beach Print Halterneck Bikini (£19.50) Marksandspencer.com.

Printed bikinis are often more interesting than block coloured bikinis. Go for a ditsy floral print or go for something bigger and bolder, such as the lemon print bikini from New Look, showing that fruity fashion wasn’t just for last summer. The middle bikini is great if you want a bigger splash of eye-catching colour, and the Topshop bikini is a fantastic colour update – pairing turquoise with orange and a palm print surprisingly worked! This has to be one of my favourites this season.

Bikini – Boutique – Lemon Print Red Bikini (Was £19.99, Now £14.99) Newlook.com.
Bikini – Lepel – Sunrise Bandeau Bikini Top (Was £24.99, Now £18.74), Bottoms, (Was £16.99, Now £12.74) Newlook.com.
Bikini – Turquoise Leaf Triangle Bikini (£26) – Topshop.com.

For classic, chic beach dressing with a modern twist, try this River Island swimsuit. The slight navy colour, paired with the subtle gold beads is effortlessly chic and classic – however, the shape and fringing updates the look. This is another of my all-time favourites this season! The river island bikini is not only bang n trend in a pretty sea-foam green, but the flower detailing is also a subtle reference to Christopher Kane.
