How To Do: Sporty Chic for a Low-Budget
Last Monday I showed you how to get the Fashion Colour Pop look for a high-budget. However today, I’m going to show you how to do Sporty Chic for a low-budget.
Sporty Chic is big this season, with wet-look hair, backpacks, wedge hightops, sleek dresses, neoprene, and sporty shorts, jackets and tops. The key to wearing a sporty style outfit, without looking as if you have just come of the track, is to wear it with sporty heels. If you can’t wear heels, wear a sporty top with tapered trousers – one part sporty, one part fashion. Big names to take as inspiration from this season are Alexander Wang, Michael Kors, Proenza Schouler, Stella McCartney, and Victoria Beckham.
So, here’s how you can get the look for a low-budget:
Top – New Look – Orange Sheer Back Shell Top (£6.99)
Shorts – New Look – Fluro Tie Running Short (£14.99)
Heels – Topshop – SCOOTER Sporty Platform Sandal (£78)
Backpack – Topshop – Silver Nylon Quilted Backpack (£25)
Watch – LTD – Digital Neon Yellow Watch (£24.99) – Available from Newlook.com.
The dark shorts and shoes contrast the orange top, and make it stand out. Because the back is sheer, wear with an acid coloured bra to add a little naughty pop of colour. Sling the backpack over one shoulder for extra cool. Use hair-gel and a comb to sweep hair back off your face and achieve ‘wet-look’ hair. This outfit looks great with a fresh face, or if you must do a little make-up, with a swish of electric colour on the eyes. Paint nails a contrasting bright colour.
