Mary Katrantzou & NEWGEN for Topshop

Last Monday, I shared with you the highlights of Paris Couture Week. However today I’m excited tell you about the Mary Katrantzou & NEWGEN for Topshop launches. I will also be showing you how I would style my favourite pieces from both the Mary Katrantzou & NEWGEN for Topshop collections.

A bit about Mary Katrantzou:

Mary Katrantzou (born 1983 in Athens, Greece), currently lives and works in London. She is a new but well known and respected fashion designer, who went to Rhode Island School of Design, and later Central St. Martins. She has won the Swiss Textiles Award in 2010, her collections are featured in over 60 top fashion shops. Her work has been in Vogue, Dazed & Confused, and Grazia. So, here are my favourite pieces from the Mary Katrantzou for Topshop Collection:

It’s amazing how quickly some of her clothes have sold out! I would style this dress from the Mary Katrantzou for Topshop collection (more stock coming next week) with these sunglasses from H&M (£7.99), this clutch from Asos (Perspex Clutch £35), and these heels from Zara (Peep Toe Wedge Ankle Boot £59.99).

Slick your hair back into a tidy ponytail, and keep the face fresh. Add a punchy blue eyeliner and eyeshadow to finish the look off.

So what is NEWGEN?

NEWGEN is an organisation that was set up in 1993 by the British Council,(which for the last 10 years has been sponsored by Topshop) to help and provide funding for new, talented, designers. NEWGEN can award sponsorship to designers for exhibition, catwalk, presentation and installation. NEWGEN has allowed many designers to reach an international level. Designers that have been given NEWGEN sponsorship, often design a capsule collection for Topshop. To celebrate 10 years of sponsoring NEWGEN, Topshop has asked 20 past NEWGEN recipients to design a limited edition t-shirt. £7 from each sale goes to the Centrepoint charity. Here’s how I’d style my favourite pieces:

Floral Print Tee by Mary Katrantzou – Topshop – £30
Metallic Pencil Skirt – ASOS – Now £12
GAME High Pointed Courts – Topshop – £48
Sunglasses – H&M – £5.99
Tuck in the tee for crazy/elegant glam, and sweep hair back into a high ponytail, and finish off with orange lipstick and pink gloss over the top!

China Print Collar Tee by Erdem – Topshop – £30 (currently out of stock).
WHIPPET Cross Strap Wedges – Topshop – £45
Embroidered Tulle Skirt – Zara – £39.99
Pastel Snake Print Clutch Bag – Newlook – £12.99
Plait your hair across your forehead, and slick on a pale pink lipstick.

Floral Print Tee by J.W. Anderson – Topshop – £30
Stretch Fleece Trousers – La Redoute – £39
Ash Cool Wedge Coral Suede Trainer – Amazon – £149
Flat Top Plastic Sunglasses – Topshop – £16
Keep hair and make-up natural for chic downtown dressing. Paint nails coral, nude or grey (one of the ‘It’ colours of the season).
