Get the Look: Trendy Beach Wear! (Part 2)

Get the Look: Trendy Beach Wear! (Part 2)

On Monday I talked about what types of body shapes there are and what style will suit you. Today I will show you what patterns and colours are popular this season – (colour-block remember?).

Colour
This season, it’s all about colour-blocking. This can be wearing one shade from head to toe, or wearing two shades that are next to each-other in the colour wheel, so long as it is in one big block of colour! There is no point in having a tiny splash of colour in a little corner somewhere; be big, bold, and bright!

Colours next to each other in the colour-wheel generally look best colour-blocked together:

However the colours next to each other on a more basic, manipulated colour-wheel where it goes: Red, Pink, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, are equally as good, if not better!

Also, try fluoro colours for a really bright summery look, that is bang up to trend: Shimmi (available at net-a-porter.com) has a great range of zingy, fluoro beach wear.

Prints
African and tribal inspired prints are also a popular choice this season for bikinis, swimsuits and kaftans. The more vivid the print the better! Big zig – zags, tribal prints, and leopard print (the classic) are all great contenders. Check out Diane Von Furstenburg; she has a great range of beautiful, floaty, printed kaftans and tunics. For big zig – zags check out Missoni, and for leopard print check out Malene Birger or for crazy aztec prints, Mara Hoffman (all available from Net-a-porter.com)
